JCI Akure celebrates World Malaria day in grand style

As part of activities marking this year’s World Malaria Day, Junior Chamber International (JCI), Akure in collaboration with Nothing but Nets Campaign, a non-governmental organisation based in Akure has sensitised and distributed treated mosquito nets to people of Ipinsa and Ilere communities in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Junior Chamber International, Akure, consists of youths who are graduates and are ready to make impact in their immediate communities. World Malaria Day is a day set aside internationally by the World Health Organisation to provide education and understanding of malaria, as well as spread information on year-long intensified implementation of national malaria control strategies including community based activities, malaria prevention and treatment in endemic areas.

While speaking on the rationale behind the gesture, the JCI President, Akure City, Kunle Omowaye said; “It is part of our community based activities for malaria prevention and treatment and in fulfillment of MDG 4 (To reduce child mortality rate), MDG 5 (Improve maternal health) and MDG 6 (To combat HIV/ AIDS, malaria & other diseases).” See Pictures after cut

JCI AKURE PRESENTS GIFTS TO BABIES OF THE YEAR 2014

JCI Present gifts to 2014 babies.


Junior Chambers International (JCI), Akure Chapter has donated gifts to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd babies that were born in 2014. The donations were made at the Ondo State Specialist hospital, Akure, Ondo State.

The donation of gifts was done in conjunction with the office of the First Lady of Ondo State. The first lady, Her Excellency, Mrs Olukemi Mimiko was represented by was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, lady Yemi Mahmud Fasanmi. They were received by the Matron of the Hospital, Mrs S M Bosede.

While speaking on the idea behind the donations, the President Junior Chamber International, Akure, JCIN (Amb.) Kunle Omowaye said; "as part of the Community Development area of opportunity and the believe of the Junior Chamber International ...that service to humanity is the best work of life, that is why we embarked on the 2014 annual baby of the year award ceremony", he submitted.

Amb. Omowaye further commended Her Excellency wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Olukemi Mimiko for her gender friendly programs especially for women in the State and he expressed readiness to partner in areas of need within the scope of JCI and the United Nations Millenium Development Goals (MDGs).
